So long mom (I’m off to drop the bomb)

“… I went from adolescence to senility, trying to bypass maturity …” – Tom Lehrer

I first discovered Tom Lehrer, when researching a project for an Atomic Media class (yea, being a film major is awesome).  I feel particularly bad ass because I found him by looking at the reference notes in a back of a book (and by bad ass, I mean uber nerd). He has recently regained popularity because real Harry Potter sang one of his songs on a British talk show.  I’m sort of an O.G. fan and by O.G. I mean 40 years after he stopped performing live.

While at Harvard, he started distributing his own music, because it was deemed unsuitable for radio.  He self-promoted and would receive mail orders from around the Country.  He’s currently a professor at Santa Cruz in Mathematics, and His songs are subversive, humorous and witty.  Thoughts?

“If, after hearing my songs, just one human being is inspired to say something nasty to a friend, or perhaps to strike a loved one, it will all have been worth the while.” – Tom Lehrer
